Amersfoort is a typical Dutch city in the province of Utrecht, Netherlands. It is located in the geographical center of Holland. Amersfoort marked its 760th anniversary as a city in 2019. It has a beautiful, compact city center. Amersfoort draws more than a million tourists every year, partly thanks to its beautiful city center, lovely canals, great shopping opportunities, and welcoming terraces, cafés and restaurants. The Mondriaanhuis museum may be the cultural highlight of the city. It is the house in which Piet Mondriaan was born. The Flehite museum is the place to go for more art and culture. Another highlight in Amersfoort is the Onze Lieve Vrouwentoren, one of the tallest church towers in Holland, and the beautiful Koppelpoort, the old city gate. With its many festivals and events, the city is always a lively place. Especially in summer, when the Spoffin – International street arts festival takes place.
